ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced the introduction of a new product in the Product Lifecycle Information Domain designed specifically for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO). The IHS MRO eCatalog is a dynamic, web-based electronic catalog of MRO parts and materials. It includes information on over four million MRO items from more than 1,300 manufacturers. The IHS MRO eCatalog includes detailed information on the spare parts, materials, chemicals and supplies that keep plants running, including valves, seals, pipe, pumps, bearings, motors, lubricants, solvents and much more.

“For industrial and process manufacturing organizations, MRO inventory can represent as much as 15 percent of total enterprise spend and 75 percent of requisitions,” said Don Lesem, IHS vice president of Product Lifecycle. “Yet management and optimization of MRO inventory is hampered by the lack of an unbiased and comprehensive source of information on available MRO materials. The IHS MRO eCatalog provides a much needed tool for the objective selection of MRO items and less costly alternates.”

The IHS MRO eCatalog provides the world’s foremost source of comprehensive and objective information on MRO parts and materials. The MRO eCatalog includes features such as keyword, manufacturer and part number search; parametric search with attribute refinement; ability to compare items side-by-side; view product images; link to catalog pages and view manufacturer information and list pricing. All of this is available in a powerful and easy-to-use web interface.

“No longer do maintenance, facilities and procurement professionals need to keep hardcopy catalogs, be confined to distributor or OEM recommendations, or surf the web for product information,” added Bert Turner, IHS vice president of sales and business development. “The IHS MRO eCatalog has all the structured product information needed in one convenient tool.”

The IHS MRO eCatalog is available immediately as an annual subscription on the IHS Engineering Resource Center (ERC), or integrated with the IHS Intermat Struxure™ catalog authoring/management software. IHS Intermat pioneered the standardization of industrial MRO materials information 30 years ago and since that time has remained the market leader in helping the Global 2000 optimize and manage their MRO data.
