Chief Strategist, Global Gas, Energy Research and Analysis, IHS Markit
Mr. Michael Stoppard is vice president and chief strategist for Global Gas, and leads the European energy policy dialogue. He is also vice chair of CERAWeek. Mr. Stoppard launched coverage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) within IHS ten years ago. His current research focus at IHS Markit is LNG in transportation. In 2013 he led the multiclient study, "The New of Map of Global Gas," about the future of the global gas market. He is the author of numerous reports, including analysis of business models, European and Russian gas relations and LNG trading. He was coauthor an article with Dr. Daniel Yergin titled, "The Next Prize," published in Foreign Affairs magazine. In 2010, Mr. Stoppard also coauthored a special publication with Dr. Yergin, "The Voice of Gas". Previously, he worked as a Research Fellow of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. Mr. Stoppard graduated from the University of York, UK, with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Modern History.
