Quantifies country risk premiums, factoring the full spectrum of political, economic, and security risks to inform more profitable investments
LONDON (January 30, 2020) – IHS Markit (NYSE: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, today announced the debut of its Country Risk Investment Model, a solution that more fully and accurately measures the financial impact of political, economic, legal, tax, operational, regulatory and security risks on investments.
“Investors are seeking growth in new and emerging markets where they’re exposed to the full spectrum of commercially relevant country risks that vary significantly by sector,” said Mike Hartnett, Country Risk Product Manager, IHS Markit. “If they are still using just sovereign risks as a proxy for country risk, they’re likely over-exposed or they’re leaving money on the table.”
Covering more than 150 countries and 10 sectors, the model generates country risk premiums, tailored by sector, and calculates risk adjusted Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations. The model enables clients to input their own cashflow projections, quantify the financial impact of their risk mitigation strategies and configure investment horizons and other cost-based assumptions to inform more rigorous analysis and profitable investments.
