Walt Hart, Ph.D. is vice president of Natural Gas Liquids Research at IHS Markit. Dr. Hart is the preeminent subject matter expert on natural gas liquids at IHS Markit. He leads three annual international LPG Seminars & Workshops held in the US, Asia and Latin America. He has designed and taught workshops and training courses. His proprietary studies have involved business analysis and strategy, market studies, forecasting, valuations, and legal support. He works primarily in the area of natural gas liquids, but also has significant experience in petrochemicals, naphtha, alternative fuels, and bio-fuels. Based in Houston, Dr. Hart joined IHS, now IHS Markit, with the acquisition of the international energy consulting firm Purvin & Gertz in 2011. Prior to Purvin & Gertz, Dr. Hart spent 14 years at Union Carbide Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company, as well as two years at Owens Corning Fiberglas. He held positions in process engineering, technical sales, research and development, finance, and strategic planning. He has also taught at the undergraduate level. Educated in the US, Dr. Hart received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1986 from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Charleston, West Virginia; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
