Mr. Stephen Trammel is Director Unconventionals for IHS Energy and an expert on current U.S. oil & gas activity with a special focus on unconventional resources. Mr. Trammel led the technical team that produced the authoritative multi-client study “Unconventional Frontier—Prospects for Tight Oil in North America and Going Global: Predicting the Next Tight Oil Revolution.” The report analyzed the top tight oil plays in the United States and Canada expected to have the largest impact on the energy supply renaissance that tight oil developments are driving. Previously he also had responsibility for managing well data accumulation, current activity products and editorial content in the United States. Mr. Trammel is a participant in the Expert Source Program for IHS, which delivers strategic thought leadership to the oil & gas industry through insight and analysis. Having joined the company in 1981, he has spent the majority of his career with IHS and its predecessors. Mr. Trammel is a regular speaker and writer on a variety of industry topics, having begun his oil and gas industry career as a writer covering Rocky Mountain activity for Petroleum Information, now IHS. A member of the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, Mr. Trammel studied at the University of Colorado and also holds a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, U.S.
